Job summary

Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) is seeking a B&B Mechanic-Carpenter to perform carpentry work across Metro-North Railroad facilities. The role involves cutting, shaping, and installing building materials, with duties including framing walls, roofing, cabinetry, flooring, ceilings, and platform edge work.

Candidates must meet education and experience requirements and will operate under the IBT agreement.

Qualifications

• Must have High School Diploma or GED.
• Vocational or apprentice carpentry training.
• Two years of carpentry experience.

Responsibilities

• Layout and frame wood and metal stud walls and install drywall or paneling for interior remodels and storage facilities.
• Frame roofs, overhangs, and canopies on various work buildings.
• Install and repair cabinet frames, doors, and countertops in work offices and station locations.
• Install and repair wood flooring using plywood, oak, or tongue and groove joints.
• Layout and repair drop ceilings in offices and interior work locations.
• Install and replace station platform edge boards to minimize gaps with trains.
