Job summary

Marmon Rail Group, a Berkshire Hathaway company, is seeking a Corporate Maintenance Manager to guide railcar repairs and drive efficiency from our Chicago headquarters. This hybrid role requires living within commuting distance and offers relocation support.

You will review repair estimates, analyze data for trends, and coordinate with shops to ensure timely, accurate repairs and billing while driving continuous improvement initiatives across the network.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field is required or a HS diploma with substantial equivalent experience.
• Minimum of 5 years’ relevant work experience, preferably in railroad/railcar environments.
• Experience with shop repair, equipment leasing, or data analytics is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Review Billing Repair Cards for accuracy and consistency across shops and network.
• Ensure repair charges are appropriate via data analytics and controls.
• Handle lessee billing for lessee-responsible repairs accurately and timely.
• Escalate repair vs. scrap determinations based on approved parameters.
• Coordinate movement of cars through shop and act as primary contact for information requests.
• Answer shop repair questions using internal resources.
• Analyze maintenance data to identify trends and improvement opportunities.
• Lead remote and on-site shop audits and participate in special projects.
