Job summary

Atlas is seeking a Transportation Engineer to support GDOT Section 130 railroad-highway crossing safety projects in Georgia. The role involves contributing to crossing evaluations, plan development, field documentation, and coordination with public agencies and stakeholders.

The engineer will blend technical design with field work and collaboration to deliver safety improvements from initiation through closeout, while building relationships with GDOT, CSXT, and local partners.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering with transportation focus.
• Minimum 3+ years of engineering experience in transportation related fields.
• Experience with plan development, technical reviews, field investigations, and project documentation.
• Ability to coordinate with GDOT, railroad partners, local agencies, and consultants.

Responsibilities

• Develop and review railroad crossing signing and marking plans using MicroStation and CADD.
• Support field observations, data collection, safety assessments, and project documentation.
• Assist with evaluations of warning devices, crossing surfaces, traffic operations, and railroad coordination.
• Prepare exhibits, quantity calculations, meeting documentation, plan markups, and project materials.
• Coordinate with GDOT, CSXT, local agencies, and internal project teams for project delivery.
• Contribute to project tracking, reporting, closeout activities and safety program improvements.
