Job summary

RailWorks is seeking an entry-level construction laborer to perform a variety of tasks at construction sites. The role involves physical labor using hand and power tools and requires adherence to safety regulations.

Pay ranges from $22.00 to $25.00 per hour, with benefits including medical, dental, vision, and a 401(k) with company match. The position is outdoor and requires travel and the ability to work in varying weather conditions.

Qualifications

• 0-12 months of relevant construction experience.
• Ability to understand and follow safety rules, policies, procedures, and regulations.

Responsibilities

• Cleans and prepares construction sites to eliminate hazards.
• Measures, marks, and records openings and distances to lay out areas where construction work will be performed.
• Controls traffic passing near, in, and around work zones.
• Removes and replaces track and track components (e.g., ties, rails, bars, etc.).
• Slides and aligns tie plates.
• Observes condition of tracks, track beds, and track right of way to detect and report problems or defects.
• Digs holes and trenches.
• Utilizes basic hand tools (e.g., sledgehammer, pick, track wrench, spike maul etc.) and follows basic tool maintenance.
• Complies with all company and railroad safety rules, practices, and regulations.
