Job summary

RailWorks is seeking an entry-level laborer to perform a variety of tasks at construction sites using hand and power tools. The role emphasizes safety and adherence to rail industry standards.

You will assist with site preparation, measure openings, move and align track components, and support crew in daily operations. The position is beginner-level with room to grow within RailWorks' nationwide projects.

Qualifications

• 0–12 months of construction experience required.
• Ability to follow safety rules, policies, procedures, and regulations.
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
• Willingness to travel and work outdoors at construction sites.
• Physical ability to perform demanding labor.

Responsibilities

• Cleans and prepares construction sites to eliminate possible hazards.
• Measures, marks, and records openings and distances to lay out areas where construction work will be performed.
• Controls traffic passing near, in, and around work zones.
• Removes and replaces track and track components (e.g., ties, rails, bars, etc.)
• Slides and aligns tie plates.
• Observes condition of tracks, track beds, and track right of way to detect and report problems or defects.
• Digs holes and trenches.
• Utilizes basic hand tools (e.g., sledgehammer, pick, track wrench, spike maul etc.) and follows basic tool maintenance.
• Complies with all company and railroad safety rules, practices, and regulations.
