Job summary

RailWorks is seeking a beginner-level construction laborer to perform a variety of tasks at construction sites using hand and power tools. This role emphasizes safety and adherence to rail industry rules while contributing to site setup and material handling.

You will work outdoors at construction sites, handle tracking components, and support teams to ensure efficient, safe operations on projects. A valid TWIC Card is required to qualify."

Qualifications

• 0–12 months of construction experience required.
• Ability to understand and follow safety rules, policies, procedures, and regulations.
• Must have a valid TWIC Card.

Responsibilities

• Cleans and prepares construction sites to eliminate hazards.
• Measures, marks, and records openings and distances to lay out areas where construction work will be performed.
• Controls traffic near, in, and around work zones.
• Removes and replaces track and track components (ties, rails, bars, etc.).
• Slides and aligns tie plates.
• Observes condition of tracks, track beds, and track right of way to detect and report problems or defects.
• Digs holes and trenches.
• Utilizes basic hand tools (e.g., sledgehammer, pick, track wrench, spike maul) and follows basic tool maintenance.
• Complies with all company and railroad safety rules, practices, and regulations.
