Job summary

Savard Group is seeking a Rail Car Welder/Fabricator Technician in Louisiana. The role involves welding (Stick/MIG), fabricating, torch cutting, and inspecting rail cars and related equipment. You will repair components, fabricate brackets and supports, and operate fabrication tools with safety at the forefront.

Shifts are Monday to Friday, 5:30 am - 4:00 pm, with some weekends possible based on production. Temporary to permanent opportunity with competitive weekly pay.

Qualifications

• Experience with Stick and MIG welding on rail cars.
• Fabrication of metal components and structural supports.
• Ability to operate grinders, torches, plasma cutters and fabrication equipment safely.

Responsibilities

• Inspect rail car structures and components and perform maintenance and repairs as needed.
• Fabricate and install metal brackets, supports and replacement parts.
• Repair damaged steel flooring, hatches, doors, couplers and undercarriage assemblies.

Key Requirements:Must have experience conducting Stick and MIG welding practices, fabricating, and using torch cutters.Must have a valid TWIC cardOSHA 10 is a plus Will be performing inspections, maintenance, and repairs of rail cars and related equipmentFabricate and install metal components, structural supports, brackets, and replacement partsRepair damaged steel components, flooring, hatches, doors, couplers, and undercarriage assembliesOperate hand tools, grinders, torches, plasma cutters, and fabrication equipment safelyInspect completed work to ensure compliance with company and industry standards
