Job summary

Cordoba Corporation, a California-based civil engineering and program management firm, seeks a Railroad/Roadway Bridge and Guideway Engineer to provide field inspection and quality assurance for rail and roadway infrastructure. The role focuses on verifying compliance with plans, specifications, codes, and safety standards on major projects.

The position requires a civil engineering background with substantial inspection experience, strong communication skills, and proficiency with QA/QC

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Civil Engineering Technology, Construction Management, Engineering Technology, or a closely related field
• Minimum of five (5) years of relevant bridge, guideway, railroad, or heavy civil construction inspection experience; or nine (9) years without a degree
• Knowledge of bridge, guideway, railroad, and heavy civil construction methods and contract documents
• Experience performing construction inspections and detailed field reports
• Ability to interpret structural drawings, shop drawings, and inspection procedures
• Knowledge of QA/QC principles and construction inspection practices
• Strong verbal and written communication skills with contractors and project stakeholders
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and electronic construction management documentation software

Responsibilities

• Perform daily inspection of bridges, guideways, elevated structures and related civil infrastructure
• Monitor concrete, steel and precast elements and alignment with specs
• Verify conformity of built elements to quality requirements and standards
• Review inspection reports, certifications, and placement records for accuracy
• Document inspection findings with photos and reports
• Coordinate with contractors, Resident Engineers and QA staff on corrective actions
• Witness field testing and sampling and document results
• Coordinate inspections with specialty inspectors and project stakeholders
• Verify traffic control, environmental compliance and safety requirements
• Participate in meetings to resolve technical issues
• Assist with punch lists and final acceptance documentation
• Perform other maintenance inspection duties for CAHSR program
