Metro in Los Angeles is seeking a skilled Body and Paint Repair Technician to service light rail vehicles under moderate supervision. You will repair interior and exterior surfaces, weld, mix paints, and ensure safety standards.

Candidates should have 2 years of repair experience on cars or rail vehicles, welding experience, and a valid California driver’s license; a full-time training program can substitute for experience. This role is full-time and on-site.

Qualifications

• 2 years' experience in paint and body repair of cars, trucks, or rail vehicles.
• Welding experience (6 months) required or equivalent training.
• Completion of a full-time accredited training program may substitute for work experience.
• Valid California Class C driver's license.

Responsabilités

• Repairs body and paint damage to interior and exterior of light rail vehicles.
• Removes vehicle parts such as headlights to access damaged areas.
• Uses MIG and TIG welding equipment to repair areas.
• Mixes paints, matches colors, and uses HVLP spray guns for finishing.

Basic Function

Under moderate supervision, performs all types of body and paint repairs on light rail vehicles.

• Repairs body and paint damage to the interior and exterior of the light rail vehicles


• Removes vehicle parts such as headlights to perform repairs on the damaged areas


• Uses Metal Inert Gas (MIG) and Tungsten Inert Gas (TIG) welding equipment to repair damage


• Mixes paints, matches colors, and paints vehicle surfaces with high volume low pressure (HVLP) spray guns


• Responds to emergency body repair and maintenance requirements of rail vehicles


• Contributes to ensuring that the EEO policies and programs of Metro are carried out

• 2 year's experience in paint and body repair of cars, trucks, or rail vehicles and six months' welding experience


• Successful completion of a full time training program from an accredited school in paint and body repair may be substituted for an equivalent amount of actual work experience


• Valid California Class C driver's license

Special Conditions

• Must comply with all California Occupational Safety & Health Act (Cal/OSHA) regulations and utilize approved safety equipment and protective gear \"including but not limited\" to respirators and/or hearing protective devices (HPD), if and when required


• Must be able to work on any one of three shifts and weekends


• May be exposed to weather, chemical, electrical, and physical hazards when performing duties


• Positions in this classification are considered safety sensitive under Federal Transit Administration (FTA) drug and alcohol regulations
