Description

JOB SUMMARY

This position is responsible for supervising swimming and water activity in Raging Rivers Waterpark and the Mandan Aquatic Center. As a lifeguard you will warn swimmers of improper activities and enforce pool regulations/water safety policies. Lifeguards will be trained in first aid and CPR and be able to respond to crisis situations. The individual will help create a safe and positive environment that promotes members’ safety.

JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITES

  • Oversee the proper and safe use of the facility on a daily basis.
  • Explaining and enforce rules, regulations and policies to ensure safety of patrons.
  • Communicate with and assist maintenance in providing a clean and safe facility.
  • Complete daily tasks thoroughly.
  • Warning swimmers regarding unsafe situations and maintain order in swimming areas.
  • Recognize signs of danger and respond accordingly.
  • Offer a positive customer service experience to patrons.
  • Respond quickly and efficiently to crisis and emergency situations.
  • Respond to upset patrons and offer solutions to concerns and complaints with a positive attitude. Confide in lead lifeguard for support.
  • Show knowledge in first aid and CPR. Assist quickly and efficiently.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
  • Maintaining cleanliness and orderliness of all areas.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Has shown strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community.
  • Completion of lifeguard, first aid, and CPR training.
  • Proficient communication skills.
  • Has shown competence in quick decision making.
  • Complete required trainings and work in an outdoor setting.

WORK AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS

The work is typically performed outdoors, occasionally in hot or inclement weather. The employee occasionally lifts light and heavy objects, climbs ladders and uses tools or equipment requiring a high degree of dexterity. The employee may be exposed to noise, dust, dirt, grease, irritating chemicals and machinery with moving parts.

WORK HOURS

Most work hours are performed between 10:00 am – 9:00 pm all days of the week. Some days may be required to come in early or stay late to ensure all duties are completed.
