Job summary

Scotland Health Care System in Laurinburg, North Carolina seeks a Part-time Radiology Technician in the Scotland Memorial Hospital - Family Medicine department. Responsibilities include routine radiographic procedures, patient positioning, and safety, plus clerical and support duties in the Radiology Department.

ARRT certification and BLS are required, with graduation from an AMA Accredited Radiology Program or equivalent. On-site role with day shift distribution and patient-care focus.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine radiographic procedures with proper patient positioning and safety.
• Inventory and order supplies for Radiology Department; rotate stock.
• Conduct visual preventive safety inspections and report hazards.
• Provide discharge instructions; refer medical questions to provider or nurse.
• Assist with minor office procedures and room housekeeping tasks.
• Enter accurate patient data into the order entry system; ensure x-ray transmission for radiologist review.
• Identify emergencies and notify provider or nurse immediately.

Job Description:

1.Performs all routine radiographic procedures. Demonstrates anatomy under investigation through proper patient positioning, technique selection, appreciation of immobilization and radiation protection devices. 2.Inventories and orders all supplies for the Radiology Department. Rotates stock and eliminates outdated items. 3.Performs visual preventive safety inspections. Reports dangerous equipment or equipment conditions to appropriate personnel. 4.Provides discharge instructions from the provider to each patient. Refers medical questions to the provider or nurse. 5.Assists the provider with minor office procedures such as splinting or sling adjustments. 6.Assists with routine housekeeping tasks such as trash removal, disinfecting and cleaning exam tables. Keeps exam rooms adequately stocked. 7.Enters accurate information into order entry system. Assures that all x-rays are transmitted to SMH for radiologist review. 8.Identifies emergency situations and notifies the provider and/or nurse immediately. 9.Checks x-ray reports against x-ray log and gives to the provider for review. Notifies appropriate radiology personnel of missing or late reports. 10.Chart entries on each patient is legible, accurate and complete. Corrects errors according to hospital policy. 11.Actively participates in Customer Service survey process. 12.Presents positive opportunities for office improvements to practice manager / coordinator. 13.Receives and screens all incoming telephone calls immediately and courteously. Provides appropriate information regarding medical inquiries or refers the call to the provider when appropriate. Directs other calls to the appropriate person or department. 14.Performs other duties as assigned in a timely manner.
