Job summary

Monroe County Hospital & Clinics is seeking a Radiologic Technologist to join our Radiology team. The role involves scheduling exams, performing diagnostic CT procedures, initiating IVs, and assisting radiologists in a fast-paced setting.

You will ensure patient safety, maintain PACS workflows, and support department operations. Strong English communication, teamwork, and attention to detail are essential; CT experience is preferred or training offered.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Graduate of an accredited school of radiologic technology.
• Current Iowa permit to practice as radiologic technologist.
• ARRT certification.
• BLS and mandatory reporting certified or within 90 days of hire.
• Ability to work in teams and communicate accurately and clearly.
• Proficient in English to communicate with patients, families, and other caregivers.
• Computer experience using Microsoft Office Excel, Word and Outlook.

Responsibilities

• Performs CT examinations following correct CT protocols.
• Starts IVs to inject contrast agents for CT exams.
• Performs C-arm procedures in OR.
• Manages exams in PACS and burn disks.
• Observes radiation protection for patients, self, and other staff.
• Assists radiologist with special exams and prepares procedure room.
• Keeps Radiology department clean and tidy and participates in huddles and trainings.

Job Schedule

Full-time: 36 hours per week.

Choose between the following two options for your schedule:

• Friday – Sunday. With on-call hours each night.
• Saturday & Sunday, with on-call hours each night.
  • This schedule will come with full-time benefits as well.

Hours: 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM (On-call: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM)

This position is a weekend package shift with the option of working 5 out of 6 weekends or 48 out or 52 weekends.

• Working 5 out of 6 weekends earns 140% of an employee’s base wage
• Working 48 out of 52 weekends earns 150% of an employee’s base wage
• Any PTO used, will be paid at the employee’s weekend package rate

On-Call/Call Back Incentive

• On-Call: Employees on-call will be compensated at a rate of $2.25 per hour
• Call-Back: Employees called back to work will be paid at 150% of their regular hourly rate (including base pay, weekend pay, etc.)

Job Description

• Starts IVs in order to inject contrast agents for CT exams.
• Performs C-arm procedures in OR.
• Manages exams in PACS and burn disks.
• Observes radiation protection for patients, self, and other staff.
• Assists radiologist with special exams including prepping the patient, setting up the procedure room, using sterile techniques, and drawing up medications.
• Works as a team member to keep the Radiology department clean and tidy.
• Satisfactory completion of on-the-job orientation and competency skills checklist.
• Regular and reliable attendance.
• Ongoing compliance with MCHC educational and training requirements.
• Adheres to the MCHC mission, vision, values, and Standards of Behavior.
• Maintains patient and hospital confidentiality.
• Promotes and maintains positive relationships with patients, visitors, coworkers, and providers.
• Actively participates in department huddles, in-services, meetings, and educational opportunities.
• Follows all departmental policies and procedures and adheres to departmental budget.

Job Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Graduate of an accredited school of radiologic technology.
• Current and unrestricted Iowa permit to practice as a radiologic technologist.
• Certificate from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
• Basic life support (BLS) and mandatory reporting certified or within 90 days of hire.
• Overall attention to detail, organizational ability, and ability to prioritize.
• The ability to work in teams and communicate accurately and clearly.
• Computer experience using Microsoft Office Excel, Word and Outlook.
• Proficient in English in order to communicate with patients, families, and other caregivers.

Preferred Education and Experience

• CT experience preferred or willing to train.
