Job summary

OrthoCarolina seeks a radiologic technologist to provide diagnostic radiographs, protect patients from unnecessary radiation, and uphold safety standards. The role includes positioning patients, selecting exposure factors, and maintaining clean exam rooms within a busy radiology department.

Qualified candidates will have ARRT-accepted training, at least one year in orthopedic radiography, ARRT certification or eligibility, and CPR certification is recommended.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an ARRT- and AMA-approved radiologic technologist program.
  • Minimum of one year of experience as an x-ray tech with an orthopedic background.
  • License or certification: ARRT registered or registry eligible.
  • Current CPR certification recommended.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrates competency in positioning radiologic procedures as policy dictates.
  • Communicates procedures, history, and questions to patients, ensuring understanding.
  • Positions patients and sets exposure factors with radiation safety in mind.
  • Logs procedures and processes charges and paperwork via computer systems.
  • Maintains exam-room cleanliness and stocks radiologic supplies.
  • Ensures compliance with OrthoCarolina policies and procedures.
  • Assists with patient transportation between modules and Radiology.
  • Supports patient flow in exam modules as directed by a supervisor.

Provide diagnostic quality radiographs for physicians and/or physician assistants while protecting employees and patients from unnecessary radiation and using appropriate protection standards. Essential Functions
  • Demonstrates competency in positioning of all radiological procedures as prescribed by departmental policy.
  • Communicates with patients to explain procedures, obtain clinical history, confirm acknowledgment of patient understanding, and address any questions or concerns.
  • Positions patients and selects exposure factors for various radiologic examinations and provides patients with radiation protection and safety in accordance with prescribed methods.
  • Logs radiological procedures completed, processes charges and related paperwork using computer equipment as directed.
  • Maintains cleanliness of examination rooms and stocks necessary medical and radiological supplies in the department.
  • Ensures compliance with all OrthoCarolina policy and procedures.
  • Assists with the transportation of patients between the examination modules and the Radiology department.
  • Assists with patient flow in the examination modules as directed by a supervisor.
Skills and Abilities
  • Ability to operate various manufacturer types of radiology suite equipment (e.g., Siemens, GE, Philips).
  • Proficient use of digital radiology (DR) and computer radiography (CR) reader systems.
  • Skill in identifying equipment problems and correcting or notifying supervisor.
  • Skill in positioning patients properly and performing quality diagnostic radiographs.
  • Observes safety and security procedures.
Qualifications
  • Graduate of a radiologic technologist program approved by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) and the American Medical Association.
  • Minimum of one year of experience as an x‑ray tech with an orthopedic background.
  • Professional license or certification: Registered Radiology Tech by ARRT or ARRT registry eligible.
  • Current CPR certification recommended.
