Job summary

OrthoCarolina is seeking a Radiologic Technologist to provide diagnostic radiographs and ensure radiation protection per departmental policy. You will position patients, select exposure factors, communicate with patients, and maintain exam rooms and supplies.

Requirements include ARRT‑approved radiologic technologist program graduate and ARRT registration or eligibility; minimum one year orthopedic radiography experience and CPR (recommended). CPAs and scanners operated include DR/CR systems.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an American Registry of Radiologic Technologists‑approved Radiologic Technologist program.
  • Minimum one year x‑ray tech experience with orthopedic background.
  • Current ARRT registration or registry eligibility is required.

Responsibilities

  • Position patients and select exposure factors for radiologic examinations.
  • Provide radiation protection and safety to patients and staff.
  • Communicate with patients to explain procedures and obtain history.
  • Log procedures, process charges and related paperwork.
  • Maintain cleanliness and stock supplies in the radiology department.
  • Assist with patient transport and flow within the module and radiology area.

Job description

Provide diagnostic quality radiographs for physicians and/or physician assistants while protecting employees and patients from unnecessary radiation and usage of appropriate protection standards.

Essential Functions
  • Demonstrates competency in positioning of all radiological procedures as prescribed by departmental policy.
  • Communicates with patients to explain procedures, obtain clinical history, confirm acknowledgment of patients' understanding and address any questions or concerns.
  • Positions patients and selects exposure factors for various radiologic examinations and provides patients with radiation protection and safety in accordance with prescribed methods.
  • Logs radiological procedures completed, processes charges and related paperwork using computer equipment as directed.
  • Maintains cleanliness of examination rooms and stocks necessary medical and/or radiological supplies in the department.
  • Compliance with all OrthoCarolina policy and procedures.
  • Assists with the transportation of patients between the examination module(s) and the Radiology department.
  • Assists with patient flow in the examination module(s) as directed by a supervisor.
Skills and Abilities
  • Ability to operate various manufacturer types of Radiology suite equipment, e.g., Siemens/GE/Philips.
  • Skill in proficient use of various manufacturer types of Digital Radiology (DR) and Computer Radiology (CR) reader systems.
  • Skill in identifying equipment problems and correcting or notifying supervisor.
  • Skill in positioning patients properly and performing quality diagnostic radiographs.
  • Observes safety and security procedures.
Qualifications
  • Graduate of a Radiologic Technologist program approved by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists and the American Medical Association.
  • Minimum of one year experience as an x-ray tech with an orthopedic background.
  • Professional license or certification: Registered Radiology Tech by American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (AART) or ARRT registry eligible.
  • Current CPR certification recommended.
