Overview
The Radiologic Technologist performs radiographic procedures in accordance with established professional and departmental standards and procedures at Rehoboth Surgery Hospital.
Responsibilities
- Demonstrates a thorough understanding of radiologic principles, anatomy, and pathology, utilizing the most appropriate techniques and positioning for optimal examinations, as demonstrated by exam results.
- Adheres to department policies and protocols to ensure all examinations are optimized for interpretation, as demonstrated by exam results.
- Assists in teaching radiography students sound radiography principles as required by the organization.
- Communicates effectively with patients to obtain clinical history and informed consent, assisting physicians in optimizing examination performance and interpretation, as evidenced by exam results.
- Explains procedures to patients and families, answering questions to ease anxiety and ensure cooperation, as evidenced by patient feedback and exam results.
- Recognizes clinical or emergent problems that may interfere with exams and takes appropriate actions to resolve them, producing desirable outcomes, as evidenced by exam results and patient satisfaction.
- Accurately identifies patients and their files, ensuring high accuracy and avoiding mislabeled films and files.
- Tracks patients according to department procedures, identifies errors, and takes immediate corrective actions, as evidenced by Radiology Information System reports.
- Maintains exposure levels within the As Low As Reasonably Achievable (ALARA) limits, as evidenced by monthly radiation exposure reports.
- Uses radiation protection procedures effectively with collimation devices and shielding.
- Ensures patient safety by using side rails, braking mechanisms, and monitoring, as demonstrated by risk management reports.
- Reports, documents, and corrects any adverse, unsafe, or unusual conditions, maintaining a safe and clean environment.
- Ensures rooms are stocked with appropriate supplies and removes expired supplies from patient care areas.
- Operates imaging and related equipment according to manufacturer specifications, as evidenced by exam results.
- Stays updated on technological advances, submitting documentation of attendance at seminars and in-services.
- Participates in performance improvement initiatives, in-services, and meetings, as evidenced by attendance records.
Qualifications
Recent hospital experience preferred. Ability to perform on-call, shift, holiday, and weekend duties when required. Basic computer skills.
