Job Details

The Radiology Technologist performs x-ray scans of patients' internal anatomy to aid physicians in diagnosing illnesses, diseases, or injuries. Executes radiologic services in compliance with relevant laws and regulations and provides consultation advice to patients and radiology professionals. Delivers patient care and education before, during, and after diagnostic imaging procedures.

Job Description

  1. Interact with co-workers, visitors, and other staff consistent with the values of Jefferson.
  2. Position radiographic equipment or x-ray film appropriately to produce images with necessary detail or contrast to assist with diagnosis and treatment.
  3. Explain radiographic procedures to patients and obtain complete and accurate histories relevant to the examination.
  4. Communicate effectively with patients.
  5. Provide staff and patient protection in accordance with prescribed radiation safety standards, including the placement of shields and aprons to limit radiation exposure.
  6. Implement and monitor compliance with local, state, and national regulations, standards, requirements, and clinical protocols for radiologic imaging services.
  7. Maintain x-ray equipment through scheduled cleaning and testing, documenting results.
  8. Maintain and update patient and study information to ensure billing and RIS/PACS accuracy while maintaining patient confidentiality.
  9. Perform other related duties as directed by the lead technologist, supervisor, or manager, including quality assurance and control tasks.
  10. Maintain continuing education to meet licensing and job requirements.
  11. Perform other duties as assigned.
