Job description

Job Details

The Radiology Technologist performs x-ray scans of patients' internal anatomy to aid physicians in diagnosing illnesses, diseases, or injuries. They execute radiologic services in compliance with relevant laws and regulations and provide consultation advice to patients and radiology professionals. Delivering patient care and education before, during, and after diagnostic imaging procedures is also part of their responsibilities.

Job Description

  1. Interact with co-workers, visitors, and other staff consistent with the values of Jefferson.
  2. Properly position radiographic equipment or x-ray film to produce images with necessary detail or contrast to assist with diagnosis and treatment.
  3. Explain radiographic procedures to patients and obtain complete and accurate history relevant to the examination.
  4. Communicate effectively with patients.
  5. Provide staff and patient protection in accordance with prescribed radiation safety standards, including the use of shields and aprons to limit radiation exposure.
  6. Implement and monitor local, state, and national regulations, standards, requirements, and clinical protocols for radiologic imaging services.
  7. Maintain x-ray equipment by performing scheduled cleaning and tests, documenting results.
  8. Maintain and update patient and study information to ensure billing and RIS/PACS accuracy, while maintaining patient confidentiality.
  9. Perform other related technologist duties as directed by the lead technologist, supervisor, or manager, including quality assurance and control tasks.
  10. Maintain continuing education to meet licensing and job position requirements.
  11. Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Graduate of an approved American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT) program or hold a current validated Registry from ARRT in Radiology Technology (R). ARRT (R), (CT) preferred.

Competencies (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required):

  • Knowledge of RIS systems.
  • Knowledge of PACS systems.
