Qualifications

• ARRT-accredited program completion is required.

• BLS certification from the American Heart Association.

• Appropriately positions radiographic equipment or x-ray film to obtain images with necessary detail.
• Explains radiographic procedures to patients and obtains complete history; communicates clearly.
• Protects patients and staff per radiation safety standards, using shields/aprons as required.
• Implements and monitors local, state and national regulations and clinical protocols for imaging services.
• Maintains and tests x-ray equipment; documents results promptly.
• Maintains and updates patient and study information; ensures RIS/PACS accuracy and confidentiality.
• Performs other duties as directed by lead technologist or supervisor; participates in continuing education.
• Supports quality assurance and control activities as assigned.

Delivers patient care and education before, during and after diagnostic imaging procedures.

Job Duties

• Appropriately positions radiographic equipment or x-ray film to produce images with necessary detail or contrast in order to assist with diagnosis and treatment.
• Explains radiographic procedure to the patient, obtains complete and accurate history relevant to the examination to being performed. Communicates effectively with the patient.
• Provides staff and patient protection in accordance with prescribed radiation safety standards, including placement of shields/aprons in order to limit radiation exposure.
• Implements and monitors local, state and national regulations, standards, requirements and clinical protocols for radiologic imaging services.
• Maintains x-ray equipment by performing scheduled cleaning/tests and documents results.
• Maintains and updates patient and study information to ensure billing and RIS/PACS accuracy; handles patient records while maintaining patient confidentiality.
• Performs other related technologist duties as directed by the lead technologist, supervisor or manager, including those related to quality assurance and/or control.Responsible for maintaining continuing education required for licenses and job position
• Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

• Specialized Diploma Graduate of an approved American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT) program or
• High School Diploma/GED with AART Certification
• Knowledge of RIS systems
• Knowledge of PAC's systems
• BLS - Basic Life Support AHA - American Heart Association

Additional Qualifications

May require travel between Jefferson locations

Physical Demands

Lift and carry 40-50 lbs. Examples: Push/pull patients on bed, stretcher (requires 29 lbs. push force), lateral transfers up to 50 lbs. of the patient's weight. Frequent to continuous standing/walking. Patient transporters can walk 8-10 miles per shift. *Patient care providers may be required to perform activities specific to their role including kneeling, bending, squatting and performing CPR.
