Job summary

Jefferson Health Northeast in Langhorne, PA seeks a Radiology Technologist to perform x-ray scans and support physicians in diagnosis. You will deliver patient care and education before, during, and after diagnostic imaging procedures, while adhering to safety protocols.

Responsibilities include proper equipment positioning, patient communication, maintaining RIS/PACS records, and ensuring compliance with local, state, and national regulations.

Qualifications

  • Specialized Diploma graduate of an ARRT-approved program.
  • High School Diploma/GED with ARRT Certification.
  • Knowledge of RIS systems.
  • Knowledge of PACS systems.
  • BLS (AHA) certification.

Responsibilities

  • Position radiographic equipment to obtain diagnostic images with proper detail and contrast.
  • Explain procedures to patients and obtain relevant history; communicate effectively.
  • Maintain radiation safety, shielding, and exposure control per standards.
  • Ensure RIS/PACS accuracy and protect patient confidentiality in records.
  • Maintain and clean x-ray equipment; perform routine tests as required.

Executes radiologic services in compliance with relevant laws and regulations and provides consultation advice to patients and radiology professionals. Delivers patient care and education before, during and after diagnostic imaging procedures.

Job Duties
  • Interacts with co-workers, visitors, and other staff consistent with the values of Jefferson.(Do not delete, move or over-write this statement)
  • Appropriately positions radiographic equipment or x-ray film to produce images with necessary detail or contrast in order to assist with diagnosis and treatment.
  • Explains radiographic procedure to the patient, obtains complete and accurate history relevant to the examination to being performed. Communicates effectively with the patient.
  • Provides staff and patient protection in accordance with prescribed radiation safety standards, including placement of shields/aprons in order to limit radiation exposure.
  • Implements and monitors local, state and national regulations, standards, requirements and clinical protocols for radiologic imaging services.
  • Maintains x-ray equipment by performing scheduled cleaning/tests and documents results.
  • Maintains and updates patient and study information to ensure billing and RIS/PACS accuracy; handles patient records while maintaining patient confidentiality.
  • Performs other related technologist duties as directed by the lead technologist, supervisor or manager, including those related to quality assurance and/or control.Responsible for maintaining continuing education required for licenses and job position
  • Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Specialized Diploma Graduate of an approved American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT) program or
  • High School Diploma/GED with AART Certification
  • Knowledge of RIS systems
  • Knowledge of PAC’s systems
  • BLS - Basic Life Support AHA - American Heart Association

  • May require travel between Jefferson locations
Physical Demands

Lift and carry 40-50 lbs. Examples: Push/pull patients on bed, stretcher (requires 29 lbs. push force), lateral transfers up to 50 lbs. of the patient's weight. Frequent to continuous standing/walking. Patient transporters can walk 8-10 miles per shift. *Patient care providers may be required to perform activities specific to their role including kneeling, bending, squatting and performing CPR.
