Job description

Job Details

The Radiology Technologist performs x-ray scans of patients' internal anatomy to aid physicians in diagnosing illnesses, diseases, or injuries. They execute radiologic services in compliance with relevant laws and regulations and provide consultation advice to patients and radiology professionals. They also deliver patient care and education before, during, and after diagnostic imaging procedures.

Job Description

  1. Interact with co-workers, visitors, and other staff consistent with the values of Jefferson.
  2. Appropriately position radiographic equipment or x-ray film to produce images with necessary detail or contrast to assist with diagnosis and treatment.
  3. Explain radiographic procedures to patients and obtain complete and accurate history relevant to the examination.
  4. Communicate effectively with patients.
  5. Provide staff and patient protection in accordance with prescribed radiation safety standards, including the use of shields and aprons to limit radiation exposure.
  6. Implement and monitor local, state, and national regulations, standards, requirements, and clinical protocols for radiologic imaging services.
  7. Maintain x-ray equipment through scheduled cleaning and testing, and document results.
  8. Maintain and update patient and study information to ensure billing and RIS/PACS accuracy, while maintaining patient confidentiality.
  9. Perform other related duties as directed by the lead technologist, supervisor, or manager, including quality assurance and control tasks.
  10. Maintain continuing education required for licenses and job positions.
  11. Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

  • Graduate of an approved American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) program or hold a current validated Registry from ARRT in Radiology Technology (R). ARRT (R), (CT) preferred.
