Pay Range: $26.75 - $51.25 (actual pay rate dependent upon experience)

Hours

Rotating Day and Evening Shifts – 10 hour shifts: 6AM-4:30PM, 7AM-5:30PM, 11:30AM-8PM

Brief Overview

Responsible for operating MRI equipment to make clinical diagnostic images as directed by physicians. Performs routine diagnostic procedures according to established standards and procedures.

MRI Responsibilities
  • Prepares patients and adjusts equipment; positions and instructs patients for MRI procedures.
  • Is competent with IV injections for the administration of IV contrast media.
  • Performs MRI procedures accurately and efficiently according to established standards.
  • Coordinates daily schedules for efficiency and assesses exam completion.
  • Assists with staff/student on‑job training and orientation, including MRI classes.
  • Assists with the collection and maintenance of records required for the Radiology Department, Quality Assurance Department, Joint Commission accreditation, OSHA guidelines, and other legal requirements.
  • Maintains all MRI‑area records/reports (patient, volume, equipment).
  • Provides detailed reports to management as requested.
  • Consults with radiologist, physicians and other patient‑care personnel regarding exam details and specialized protocols.
  • Monitors IV contrast injection and patient condition throughout the exam.
General Radiology Responsibilities
  • Accountable for the proficient operations of radiographic and CT equipment to provide clinically diagnostic images as directed by physicians.
  • Performs various radiology procedures accurately, efficiently and according to established standards and protocols.
  • Initiates proper intervention to radiologist or referring practitioner when an exam indicates immediate attention.
  • Reviews indications for exams and reports inappropriate indications to supervisor.
  • Provides exam data in a complete and accurate format for presentation to reading radiologist.
  • Utilizes computer systems such as PACS, RIS, HIS EMR and performs general clerical duties.
  • Archives image data for permanent storage and appropriately sends images to radiologist group. Retrieves stored images from PACS or disk backup and creates CDs successfully.
  • Demonstrates understanding of medical and legal implications of imaging reports and images.
  • Maintains department policies, procedures, objectives, quality assessment, safety, environment and infection control.
  • Assists/mentors staff/student with on‑job training, clinical rotations and orientation.
  • Assists with analysis, collection and maintenance of records required by department manager, Quality Improvement, Joint Commission, MDH, ACR, OSHA, or other regulations.

Required Education, License/Certification, or Work Experience
  • Associate's degree or equivalent from a 2‑year college, technical school, or hospital‑based Radiologic Technology Program.
  • Radiography (R) – American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) upon hire.
  • Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MR) – American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) upon hire.
  • Less than 1 year thorough knowledge of radiologic and MRI terminology, practices and procedures, physiology and human anatomy.
Preferred Education, License/Certification, or Work Experience
  • 1–3 years training/experience in MRI.
