Job Summary
Up to $25,000 sign-on bonus for eligible applicants! This posting reflects an opening for an MRI Technologist I. Geisinger reserves the right to consider applicants for higher levels, including MRI Technologist II, based on skills, qualifications, and experience. We encourage all qualified individuals to apply. MRI Technologists are responsible for using radiofrequencies within a magnetic field for diagnostic, therapeutic, or research purposes. They perform magnetic resonance imaging, acquire and analyze data for diagnosis at the request of and for interpretation by a licensed practitioner. They independently perform or assist in MRI procedures, prepare, administer, and document activities related to medications in accordance with laws and policies.

Job Duties

  • Ensure correct order, proper patient identification and preparation, and appropriate documentation while respecting confidentiality.
  • Utilize appropriate imaging protocols, optimize technical factors, maximize patient safety, and apply ALARA principles.
  • Prepare and/or administer medications through vascular access sites as prescribed.
  • Evaluate images for proper positioning and quality, verify data storage and transfer, and post-process data if applicable.
  • Educate and monitor students and healthcare providers.
  • Apply MRI safety principles to minimize risks.
  • Assist with MRI interventional procedures.
  • Perform MRI procedures as prescribed.
  • Select pulse sequences considering protocols and data acquisition factors.
  • Participate in MRI safety implant investigations and approvals.
Work is performed in a clinical environment. All job-specific obligations and policies must be followed. Additional competencies from departmental orientation are essential.

Position Details

  • Certification by ARRT or NMTCB required upon hire.
  • New graduates must obtain ARRT-R or NMTCB certification before starting.
  • Hired after March 10, 2024, must complete steps for advancement to level 2, including advanced certification, within 24 months.

Education

Graduate from a Specialty Training Program in Radiologic Technology (Required). Bachelor's degree preferred.

Experience

Minimum 1 year related work experience preferred.

Certifications and Licenses

Basic Life Support, ARRT Radiography, NMTCB Nuclear Medicine Technologist.
