Job summary

Geisinger in Scranton, PA, seeks an MRI Technologist to perform magnetic resonance imaging procedures, acquire and analyze data for diagnosis, and assist licensed practitioners while maintaining patient safety.

New graduates must obtain ARRT-R/MR or NMTCB/ARMRIT prior to first day; required registrations include ARRT(R)/MR, NMTCB, and ARMRIT; graduates from Radiologic Technology programs are preferred.

Qualifications

• Graduate from Specialty Training Program-Radiologic Technology (Required).
• Bachelor's Degree-Related Field of Study (Preferred).
• Active BLS Certification and Radiography (ARRT) / Nuclear Medicine / MRI certifications listed.

Responsibilities

• Ensures correct order is obtained, patient is properly identified and prepared for exam, and that clinical history is corroborated and appropriately documented while respecting confidentiality.
• Utilizes appropriate imaging protocol and optimizes technical factors while maximizing patient safety, optimizing patient care, and applying principles of ALARA (As Low as Reasonably Achievable).
• Preparing and/or administering medications through new or existing vascular access site as prescribed by a licensed practitioner.
• Evaluates images for proper positioning and acceptable technical quality and verifies archival storage and/or transfer of data, post processing of data if applicable.
• Educating and monitoring students and other health care providers.
• Applying principles of magnetic resonance safety to minimize risk to patient, self, and others.
• Assisting the licensed practitioner with magnetic resonance interventional procedures.
• Performing magnetic resonance imaging procedures as prescribed by a licensed practitioner.
• Selecting appropriate pulse sequences with consideration given to established protocols and other factors influencing data acquisition parameters.
• MRI safety knowledge and participates in MRI Safety implant investigation and approval process.

• American Registry of Radiology Technologist (ARRT)
• Nuclear Medicine Technologist and Certification Board (NMTCB)
• American Registry of Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technologists (ARMRIT)

New graduates must obtain ARRT-R registry or primary ARRT-MR or NMTCB or ARMRIT prior to first day of employment.

Applicants hired after March 10, 2024, must complete steps required for advancing to level 2, including advanced certification, within 24 months.
