Job summary

Geisinger is seeking a Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) Technologist to conduct MRI scans, ensure patient safety and obtain diagnostic data for licensed practitioners. You will prepare examinations, select pulse sequences and monitor imaging quality in collaboration with radiologists.

Qualifications

• Graduate from Specialty Training Program-Radiologic Technology (Required).
• Bachelor's Degree-Related Field of Study (Preferred).
• ARRT MR certification required for MRI technologists.
• ARMRIT certification or NMTCB CNMT certification is acceptable.
• Primary ARRT-MR certification preferred.
• Certification by NMTCB and ARMRIT also acceptable.

Responsibilities

• Ensures correct patient identification and exam preparation with documentation.
• Implements imaging protocol and optimizes technical factors while maintaining ALARA principles.
• Preparing and/or administering medications through vascular access as prescribed by a licensed practitioner.
• Evaluates images for proper positioning and data transfer/post-processing where applicable.
• Educates and monitors students and other health care providers.
• Applies MR safety principles to minimize risk to patient, self, and others.
• Assists licensed practitioners with MR interventional procedures.
• Performs MR imaging procedures as prescribed by a licensed practitioner.
• Selects appropriate pulse sequences considering established protocols and factors affecting data acquisition.
• Demonstrates commitment to department and organizational priorities.
• Fully proficient in all assigned routine and complex job duties.
• Participates in modality quality or process improvement activities.

Job Duties

• Ensures correct order is obtained, patient is properly identified and prepared for exam, and that clinical history is corroborated and appropriately documented while respecting confidentiality.
• Utilizes appropriate imaging protocol and optimizes technical factors while maximizing patient safety, optimizing patient care, and applying principles of ALARA (As Low as Reasonably Achievable).
• Preparing and/or administering, as applicable, medications through new or existing vascular access site as prescribed by a licensed practitioner.
• Evaluates images for proper positioning and acceptable technical quality and verifies archival storage and/or transfer of data, post processing of data if applicable.
• Educating and monitoring students and other health care providers.
• Applying principles of magnetic resonance safety to minimize risk to patient, self, and others.
• Assisting the licensed practitioner with magnetic resonance interventional procedures.
• Performing magnetic resonance imaging procedures as prescribed by a licensed practitioner.
• Selecting appropriate pulse sequences with consideration given to established protocols and other factors influencing data acquisition parameters.
• Demonstrates commitment to department and organizational priorities.
• Fully proficient in all assigned routine and complex job duties.
• Participates in modality quality or process improvement activities.
