Job Description

Performs routine radiographic, fluoroscopic, and portable examinations in the diagnostic department of Radiology, on nursing units, outpatient areas, and the surgery department.
Responsibilities
- Takes radiographs per physician orders.
- A. 95% of films are satisfactory as measured by repeat rate.
- B. Exams are to be completed following procedures outlined in the routine book, including signing out requests with correct information.
- C. All requests must contain relevant patient history.
- Versatility within the diagnostic department of Radiology.
- A. Ability to work independently in routine room, IVP, fluoroscopy, portable (c-arm and routine radiograph), and GU areas.
- Protection from unnecessary radiation.
- A. Use diagnostic technical factors without unnecessary radiation exposure; shielding when appropriate.
- B. Use of coning and lead markers on all films.
- Knowledge of front desk operations and computer systems.
- A. Schedule exams and alert supervisors as needed.
- B. Use transportation programs for patient movement.
- C. Access patient info, order exams, reprint or cancel as needed.
- D. Interact professionally with other departments.
- E. Call in on-call imaging staff as required.
- F. Report equipment issues to clinical engineering and managers.
- Other duties as assigned.
- A. Be available for additional assignments.
- B. Assist Radiologic Technologist Students.
- C. Perform quality assurance, regulatory compliance, ordering supplies, scheduling staff, and audits.
Access to patient records: Limited to necessary information for patient care or regulatory compliance, with documentation of access. Follow policies 2.26.153 and 2.26.133.
Qualifications
Knowledge and Skills:
- Graduation from ARRT-accredited Radiologic Technology school.
- Knowledge of medical terminology, sterile techniques, patient positioning, and equipment operation.
Licenses & Certifications:
- ARRT certification in Radiology.
- Eligible for Ohio Radiographer license within 4 weeks of start date.
