Job Details

The Radiology Technologist performs x-ray scans of patients' internal anatomy to aid physicians in diagnosing illnesses, diseases, or injuries. Executes radiologic services in compliance with relevant laws and regulations and provides consultation advice to patients and radiology professionals. Delivers patient care and education before, during, and after diagnostic imaging procedures.

Job Description

  1. Interact professionally with co-workers, visitors, and other staff, reflecting the values of Jefferson.
  2. Position radiographic equipment or x-ray film appropriately to produce images with necessary detail or contrast to assist with diagnosis and treatment.
  3. Explain radiographic procedures to patients, obtain complete and accurate medical histories relevant to the examination.
  4. Communicate effectively with patients.
  5. Ensure staff and patient protection by adhering to prescribed radiation safety standards, including the proper placement of shields and aprons to limit radiation exposure.
  6. Implement and monitor compliance with local, state, and national regulations, standards, requirements, and clinical protocols for radiologic imaging services.
  7. Maintain x-ray equipment through scheduled cleaning and testing, documenting results accordingly.
  8. Maintain and update patient and study information to ensure billing accuracy and RIS/PACS data integrity; handle patient records while maintaining confidentiality.
  9. Perform other related duties as directed by the lead technologist, supervisor, or manager, including quality assurance and control activities.
  10. Maintain ongoing education to meet licensing and job requirements.
  11. Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Graduate of an approved American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT) program or hold a current validated ARRT Registry in Radiology Technology (R). ARRT (R), (CT) preferred.

Competencies (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities):

  • Knowledge of RIS systems.
  • Knowledge of PACS systems.
