Radiology Technologists provide patient-centered care, medical assistance, and perform x-ray studies for UMMS Ambulatory Care patients.
Principle Responsibilities and Tasks
The following describes the general nature and level of work performed by individuals in this role. It is not an exhaustive list of all duties.
- Function as both front office and back office clinical team member, depending on daily assignment. Perform all duties of the host or clinical responsibilities check list for opening, shift, and closing of the center.
- Greet and assist patients and guests professionally and hospitably. Register patients in the EMR following protocols.
- Room patients and provide triage services, including vital signs, symptom review, and chief complaint documentation in EMR.
- Accurately record patient information such as vital signs, review of systems, and chief complaints in EMR.
- Proficient in medical assisting skills, including collecting urine samples, reconstituting medications, administering oral medications, providing injections, oxygen, nebulizer treatments, assisting with procedures, collecting specimens, performing rapid tests, EKGs, processing blood samples, and fitting patients for durable medical equipment.
- Perform routine lab maintenance, logs, and sterilization procedures.
- Clean and stage exam and procedure suites between patients.
- Process payments via cash or credit card.
- Prepare radiology suite, equipment, and materials. Prepare patients for x-ray studies and explain procedures.
- Maintain inventory of supplies and process orders.
- Perform administrative tasks such as emails and phone calls.
- Assist in training new associates as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience
- High school diploma required.
- Graduation from an approved school or program required.
- BLS/CPR Certification required.
- Current state licensure as a radiologic technologist or Limited Medical Radiologic Technologist with all modifiers required.

Physical and Environmental Demands
- Ability to lift 15-30 lbs.
- Must be able to move within and outside the building, push, pull, reach, bend, stand, and sit for long periods.
- Fluent in speaking and writing English.
