Job Description

JOB SUMMARY
The Technologist II-Radiology at North Mississippi Health Services plays a crucial role in performing various technical procedures requiring independent judgment and applying ionizing radiation. They also contribute to budget control by minimizing supply use and overtime. This position acts as a liaison between staff, physicians, patients, and family members, ensuring effective communication and interaction within the Radiology department.
JOB FUNCTIONS
Technical:

  • Perform a variety of technical procedures requiring independent judgment and initiative to apply prescribed ionizing radiation.
  • Keep supply use to a minimum and maintain overtime to 3% or less.
  • Serve as a liaison between staff, physicians, patients, and family members to ensure effective communication/interaction.
  • Ensure high-quality health care is delivered within the Radiology department by effectively interacting and cooperating with providers.
  • Prepare and present patient reports/projects as required.
  • Maintain that exams and charges are correct on a daily basis.
  • Must have the training and experience to perform in two or more of the following modalities: CT, MRI, Mammography, Nuclear Medicine, or Diagnostic Radiology, or work as NMMCI Urgent Care techs performing laboratory testing and routine radiography after hours and on weekends.
  • Adhere to NMHS/NMMC Policies/Procedures/Guidelines.
  • Comply with applicable Local/State/Federal policies/procedures/guideline/regulations/laws/statutes.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education
  • High School Diploma or GED Equivalent (Required)
  • Associate's Degree from an AMA approved school (Required)
Licenses and Certifications
  • CPR - Cardiac Pulmonary Resuscitation (Required)
  • Licensed Radiologic Technologist (Required)
  • ARRT - American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (Required)
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Excellent interpersonal skills (Required)
  • Maintain practice of departmental and institutional policies, procedures, regulations, and information.
  • Control unnecessary costs to the patients and the facility.
  • Assist Radiologist and other physicians during procedures.
  • Promote good department, inter-department, and public relations.
  • Assist in supervising student technologists/technicians.
  • Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills (Required)
  • Minimize unnecessary radiation exposure to patients.
