Job Summary

This position performs radiography (x-ray) examinations to assist physicians in diagnosing and treating patients. The role may also include performing some exams in more complex modalities.

Job Description

Minimum Qualifications

Education: Graduate of an accredited school of Radiologic Technology.

Licenses/Certifications:

  • Certified in Basic or Advanced Life Support, required.
  • Current license or temporary license by the Texas Medical Board (MRT), required.
  • Registered Radiology Technologist by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT-R), required.

Experience / Knowledge / Skills:

  • Ability to lift and maneuver patients, possibly with assistance, to perform job functions.

Principal Accountabilities

  • Performs radiography exams ensuring compliance with radiation safety procedures: prepares patients, records vital signs, explains procedures, administers IV and contrast when necessary, positions patients, selects imaging techniques, and ensures image quality.
  • Enters and monitors patient data.
  • Performs quality assurance on radiology equipment.
  • Assists with initial and renewal applications for ACR and other accreditation bodies.
  • Reports accidents, complaints, or equipment malfunctions to management.
  • Takes emergency calls within the department and may work weekends or float to other locations as needed.
  • May administer breath alcohol tests and urine drug screens.
  • May perform patient registration tasks such as verifying insurance and collecting payments.
  • Ensures safe care for patients, staff, and visitors, adhering to all policies and standards within budgetary constraints.
  • Supports professional growth through continuing education and skills development; contributes to departmental goals.
  • Creates compassionate, personalized experiences demonstrating Memorial Hermann’s service standards.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
