Job summary

Vail Health is seeking a Radiologic Technologist for a flex position in the imaging department. The role includes performing radiographic exams, assisting with fluoroscopy, and ensuring patient and staff safety in alignment with Vail Health protocols.

Active period typically November through April, with a non-active period the rest of the year. Training on HIS/PACS and strict adherence to HIPAA are required for this position.

Qualifications

  • One year of radiology experience preferred.
  • ARRT certification and BLS required.
  • English language proficiency required.

Responsibilities

  • Perform radiographic examinations per protocol.
  • Assist radiologist with fluoroscopic procedures.
  • Operate C-arm and O-arm under surgeon direction.
  • Verify patient identity and exam order accuracy.
  • Maintain communication with patients and health team.
  • Follow department safety, privacy, and infection controls.
  • Use HIS and PACS systems for documentation.
  • Monitor supplies and keep rooms stocked.

ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY:

Performs diagnostic examinations, ensures image quality, patient safety, radiation safety, and patient and physician satisfaction.

This is a Flex position with Active and Non-Active working periods. Active working period is generally defined as November through April. The Non-Active period will be the balance of the year not included within the Active Working period.

WHAT YOU WILL DO:
  1. Performs all radiographic examinations according to Vail Health Protocols.
  2. Assists Radiologist with all fluoroscopic procedures.
  3. Operates large C-arm and O-arm under the direction of the surgeon.
  4. Identifies each patient and reviews exam order for consistency of examination ordered with clinical diagnosis. Reviews consistency of all demographic information including physician’s name and signature, patient’s name, and date.
  5. Maintains constructive collaborative communication with patients, families, physicians, co-workers, and other members of health care team to contribute to continuity of care.
  6. Maintains established department policies and procedures, objectives, confidentiality, quality assurance, safety, environmental standards, radiation protection standards, infection control standards, and universal precautions.
  7. Maintains working knowledge and use of the Vail Health HIS and PACS computer systems to ensure quality patient documentation.
  8. Monitor supply inventory and notify appropriate staff for ordering when stock is low. Keep exam and dressing rooms stocked and neat.
  9. Role models the principles of a Just Culture.
  10. Performs other duties as assigned. Must be HIPAA compliant.

WHAT YOU WILL NEED:
Experience:
  • One year of experience in radiology preferred.
License(s):
  • American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
Certification(s):
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) required.
Computer / Typing:
  • Must possess, or be able to obtain within 90 days, the computers skills necessary to complete online learning requirements for job-specific competencies, access online forms and policies, complete online benefits enrollment, etc.
Must have working knowledge of the English language, including reading, writing, and speaking English.
Education:
  • Completion of all educational and clinical requirements to qualify for ARRT examination.
