Roper St. Francis Healthcare in North Charleston, SC seeks a Radiologic Technologist to perform diagnostic imaging under ARRT guidance. You will position patients, ensure ALARA safety, and document imaging data accurately.

The role requires ARRT Certification in Diagnostic Radiology and BLS at hire. Expect collaboration with physicians and staff in a busy clinical setting at 8901 University Blvd.

Qualifications

• ARRT certification in Diagnostic Radiology required.
• BLS certification required at hire for RSFH locations.
• State licensure preferred, where applicable.
• Experience with Radiology Information System (RIS) preferred.

Responsibilities

• Obtain patient history and lab work for imaging procedures.
• Position and immobilize patient to optimize imaging.
• Apply ALARA principles to minimize exposure for patient and staff.
• Operate imaging equipment to perform radiographic procedures.
• Prepare and document pre/post procedure data and informed consent.
• Assist licensed practitioners with fluoroscopy and other procedures.
• Document patient dose exposures and maintain records.
• Communicate professionally with physicians, staff and patients.

This position will be located at 8901 University Blvd North Charleston, SC

Shift: Clinic is open 8:00am-8:00pm Sunday - Saturday. Shift will be three 11 hour shifts plus one 6 hour shift with rotating weekends.

Summary of Primary Function/General Purpose of Position:

The Radiological Technologist is a certified health professional who, under the direction of an authorized user, is committed to applying the art and skill of diagnostic imaging through the safe and effective use of ionizing radiation, in diagnostic radiology

Essential Job Functions:

• Obtains patient's clinical history and appropriate lab work ensuring information is documented and available for use by a licensed practitioner.
• Positions and immobilizes patient to best demonstrate anatomic area of interest, respecting patient ability and comfort.
• Applies principles of radiation protection to minimize exposure to patient, self, and others.
• Performs radiographic procedures by selecting and operating imaging equipment, and/or associated accessories to successfully perform procedures.
• Verifies informed consent and completes pre and post procedure documentation.
• Assists licensed practitioner with fluoroscopic and specialized radiography procedures. Applies appropriate aseptic surgical technique as needed.
• Performs timeout as required per policy.
• Identifies, prepares and/or administers medications/contrast as prescribed by a licensed practitioner.
• Receives relays and documents verbal, written and electronic orders in the patient's medical record.
• Evaluates images for technical quality.
• Documents patient dose exposures.
• Professionally interacts with physicians, technologist, physician offices, hospital staff, patient family members and patients.
• Operates radiographic equipment and accessories in accordance with the principles of ALARA (as low as reasonably achievable).

Education

Associate's from an ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists) accredited institute (preferrred)

Certifications

Certification and Registration with ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists) in Diagnostic Radiology (required)

State Licensure (preferred, unless required by the state where the job is being performed)

BLS Basic Life Support, American Heart Association (required at hire for Roper St Francis Healthcare locations; preferred at hire, required prior to independent patient care at BSMH)

Training

EPIC Electronic Health Record (EHR) (preferred)

Picture archiving communiation system (PACS) (preferred)

Experience

1 year experience in radiation safety and patient care (preferred)

Experience with Radiology Information System (preferred)
