Job summary

Roper St. Francis Healthcare in Charleston, SC seeks a Radiologic Technologist to perform procedures under the supervision of certified radiologists and to support direct interpretation results. Technologists will assist radiologists and supervise student Radiologic Technologists, while maintaining excellent patient relations.

The role requires ARRT/SCRQSA radiography certification and current BLS. A high school diploma or GED is required; a graduate of an Allied Health program is preferred.

Qualifications

  • ARRT certification and SCRQSA radiography certification (or SCQRSA) required; must have current BLS for Healthcare Provider.

  • Perform radiologic procedures under supervision of certified radiologists to produce diagnosable images.
  • Assist radiologists on procedures and supervise student radiologic technologists.
  • Maintain professional conduct and strong patient relations while operating radiologic equipment.

Work Shift: Monday - Thursday, 8:00pm - 6:00am (night shift) + on call requirements

Work Location: Roper Hospital (Downtown Charleston)

Job Summary:

Following established protocol and under the medical supervision of certified radiologists, Radiologic Technologists will perform procedures for the direct results of interpretation. Technologists will assist the radiologists on procedures as needed and be responsible for supervision of student Radiologic Technologists assigned to them. Encourages and maintains good customer relations.

Minimum Qualifications:
Education:
  • High school diploma or GED required. Graduate of an accredited school of Allied Health Professionals preferred.
Experience:
  • None
Licensure/Certification:
  • Registered with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) and certification in Radiography from South Carolina Radiation Quality Standard Association (SCRQSA); or high school diploma or GED and a certification in Radiography from SCQRSA. Must have a current American Heart Association BLS for Healthcare Provider Card.

Knowledge/Skills:
  • Must have strong interpersonal and communication skills. Must have demonstrated ability to perform and teach radiologic exams to produce satisfactory diagnostic images for interpretation. Knowledge of OSHA, DHEC, FDA and TJC standards and regulations. Responsible for safe operation of radiologic equipment. Ability to operate standard office equipment.

  • Frequent standing, walking. Frequent lifting/moving patients. Intermittent lifting, moving or carrying, pushing or pulling, up to 50 lbs. Frequent use of finger/hand dexterity. Constant reaching with hands/ arms. Frequent talking or hearing. Corrected hearing and vision to normal range. Exposure to blood, body fluids or tissue. Possible exposure to infectious materials, communicable diseases and/or other conditions common to a healthcare environment. Frequent exposure to risk of radiation. Intermittent exposure to toxic or caustic chemicals. Intermittent exposure to risk of exposure to blood-borne pathogens. Quiet to moderate noise level in work area. Requires work under stressful conditions, deadlines, or irregular hours. May be required to take call and/or work weekends/holidays based on the needs of the department.
