Job description

  • Schedule - Shift - Hours Full Time (40 Hours) - Evenings
  • Job Category Licensed Professionals (Non-Nursing)

The diagnostic Radiologic Technologist successfully acquires quality radiographs and performs fluoroscopy guidance for diagnostic, surgical, and therapeutic purposes, using the expertise and knowledge of radiologic technology and radiographic equipment and positioning.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT(S):

  • Graduate from an approved Radiologic Technology education program.
  • ARRT required.
  • New York State license of Radiologic Technology required.
    • New graduates will receive a temporary permit that is valid for 6 months or until they successfully pass the ARRT Radiology boards.
    • If a new graduate fails to pass the ARRT Radiology boards, they will have 10 days to work, at which time their temporary permit will be rescinded.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Should be able to push/pull, lift/move 35 lb., perform moderately difficult manual manipulations such as using a keyboard, writing, and filing for extended periods, and perform tasks requiring hand-eye coordination such as data entry and typing.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE POSITION:

Technical requirements:

  • Must be able to problem solve and troubleshoot issues independently.
  • Must be able to work independently in all areas of the diagnostic radiology department.
  • Must be willing to perform medical assistant duties as necessary depending on location of employment.
  • Must be competent and willing to participate in all OR procedures and capable of doing them independently.
  • Must be capable of operating all radiographic rooms and all equipment.
  • Track, scan, verify studies and complete all required paperwork.
  • Monitor PACS for Problem Studies.
  • Document on requisition appropriate needed information.
  • Prep patient for diagnostic imaging exam.
  • Read doctor's notes as to why exam is being performed.
  • Take histories.
  • Explain procedure to patient.
  • Correct Positioning of patients.
  • Prepare solutions for patients to drink.
  • Utilize shielding as necessary for patient and staff.

Departmental and Institutional Requirements:

  • Must keep up to date on department and hospital policies.
  • Must be able to rotate out of scheduled room assignments and possibly shift assignments.
  • Must abide by the Ellis Medicine Behaviors and Standards.
  • Must not sleep while on the clock or during shift.
  • Per Diem must follow per diem policies.
  • All technologists must be a role model for the department of radiology.

Salary Range: $31.50-$45.89/HOUR Pay is based on experience, skills, and education.
