Radiologic Technologist - UMass Memorial Health

Exemption Status: Non-Exempt

Schedule Details: Sunday, Weekends - Every Other Weekend

Scheduled Hours: 10:30AM-11PM

Shift: 2 - Evening Shift, 8 Hours (United States of America)

Hours: 32

Cost Center: 24050 - 3500 Radiology Diagnostic

Position Overview

This role involves operating or overseeing radiologic equipment to produce diagnostic images. The Technologist is responsible for patient safety and care, practicing ALARA (As Low as Reasonably Achievable).

Compensation

Sign-on Bonus: $7,500 for successful applicants

Major Responsibilities
  1. Follow all Quality Control policies and procedures for compliance with regulations.
  2. Use radiation safety measures and protection devices to ensure safety of patients and staff.
  3. Greet patients politely and efficiently.
  4. Take thorough patient medical histories.
  5. Explain procedures clearly to patients in English and monitor their safety and comfort during scans.
  6. Seek interpreter services if needed.
  7. Set up examination rooms with necessary equipment and supplies.
Experience and Skills

Required:

  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Knowledge of anatomy, patient positioning, examination techniques, equipment protocols, radiation safety, and basic patient care.
  • Ability to communicate clearly in English with patients.
  • Ability to follow procedures, policies, and regulations.
  • Effective collaboration with medical staff, personnel, students, and patients.
  • Proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking English.

Preferred: Prior experience as a Radiology Technologist.

Position Qualifications

License/Certification/Education:

  • Graduate from an accredited radiological technology program.
  • Registered by ARRT or eligible; license from MA Department of Public Health within one year.
  • CPR certification.

Equivalent education and experience may be considered if certification or licensure is not required.

Work Schedule

This position requires working every other weekend, including both Saturday and Sunday shifts from 3PM to 11PM.
