Performs diagnostic medical procedures producing diagnostic medical radiographs. Reports to the charge radiographers.
Responsibilities
- Performs radiographic examinations using C-arms, portable and stationary radiographic imaging equipment. Develops film including evaluating film for technical quality.
- Transports patients to radiographic room; prepares and maintains room.
- Maintains established departmental policies and procedures, objectives, quality assurance program, safety, environmental and infection control standards.
- Checks equipment, supplies and accessories on a regular basis.
- Maintains x-ray and other equipment in efficient operating order; performs preventative maintenance on a regularly scheduled basis; contacts outside service for major malfunctions.
- Maintains clean and orderly work areas.
- Requests and orders supplies as necessary to keep materials on hand at all times.
- Enhances professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, current literature, Inservice meetings and workshops.
- Prepares written documentation as required by the profession and the department, such as evaluation results, individualized treatment plans, progress reports, etc.
- Performs other duties as assigned or requested.
- Supports the hospital's Christian mission, philosophy, values, and goals.
- Participates in and supports established Performance Improvement Program.
- Attends JCAHO required and hospital mandatory Inservice programs.
- Observes hospital dress code and maintains appropriate conduct and appearance.
- Maintains confidentiality of all information regarding patients, families, physicians and hospital personnel.
Physical Requirements
- Prolonged periods of standing, walking, or sitting while on duty.
- Lifting, pushing, and pulling up to 50 pounds with or without assistance.
- Transferring, repositioning patients.
- Reaching, stooping, bending, kneeing, and crouching for patient care functions.
- Visual and auditory acuity and manual dexterity essential to performing designated duties required.
- Ability to perform effectively in a stressful and fast-paced environment.
- Direct contact with blood or other body fluids to which universal precautions apply.
Qualifications
Education: Associate's Degree or graduate of a radiologic technology program preferred.
Work Experience: Must demonstrate ability to recognize patients' individual needs based on medical conditions, age, limitations and planned procedures.
License & Cert: Maintains current Registry and State License.
