Job summary

Northwell Health is seeking a Radiology Technologist to operate X-ray equipment, perform quality control, and maintain required documentation.

You will translate examinations into layman terms to ease patient anxiety, position patients, and ensure correct labeling and patient data entry.

Shift details include Weekdays, 7:30a-5:30p, across Smithtown, Huntington, Babylon and Bay Shore; NYS radiology license and ARRT registration are required; 1–3 years of experience preferred.

Qualifications

• Licensed radiologic technologist in New York required.
• ARRT Radiology certification required.
• 1–3 years of technical radiography experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Translate examination results into layman terms to reduce patient anxiety.
• Perform various x-ray exams according to division standards and procedures.
• Position patient for radiographs per SOPs.
• Report patient motor abnormalities to Radiologist promptly.
• Operate equipment to transfer images and archive memory discs.
• Mark images with correct right/left and date and patient ID.
• Enter patient history data into requisition system.
• Arrange immobilization and supportive devices as needed.
• Perform related duties as required under ADA.

Job Description

Operates X-ray equipment to make radiographs of designated portions of the body. Performs quality control checks. Maintains required documentation.

Job Responsibility

Translates examination into layman terms based on professional knowledge to relieve patient of pre-testing anxiety.
Performs various x-ray exams according to established standards, procedures and procedures of the division.
Positions patient for taking of radiographs according to the departmental standard operating procedures.
Recognizes and promptly reports patient's motor abnormalities; including, fainting, discoloration, contrast reactions etc., to the Radiologist.
Operates equipment for transferring computed images to film and archival of disc memory to tape.
Utilizes film markers and ensures images are properly marked as the 'right' or 'left' side.
Ensures images are legibly labeled with correct date and patient identification.
Keys in Patient history data and other pertinent information obtained from requisition.
Arranges, attaches, or adjusts immobilization and supportive devices for patients.

Job Qualification

Vocational or Technical school Diploma required.
Current license to practice as a Radiology Technologist in New York State, required.
Current ARRT Radiology registration, required.
1-3 years of technical experience, required.

Shift Details: Weekdays, 8 hour shifts between 7:30a-5:30p; various locations: Smithtown, Huntington, Babylon and Bay Shore.
