Job summary

UPMC Mercy is seeking a full-time Radiology Technologist to perform diagnostic radiography and support patient care in a busy hospital setting. Training is provided for new grads, and there is no on-call requirement.

Five 8-hour shifts with 10-hour options, day/evening hours, weekend rotations, and a strong imaging career ladder. Sign-on and loan repayment programs are available.

Responsibilities

• Performs diagnostic radiography procedures and utilizes imaging equipment for data acquisition and interpretation.
• Identifies patients using two identifiers.
• Communicates procedures clearly to help patients feel comfortable and cooperative.
• Reviews history, assesses orders, and documents in the EMR.
• Ensures exams are coded and tracked in RIS and ISITE for archiving and billing.
• Works collaboratively with coworkers to expedite patient care.

Work Schedule

• Five 8-hour shifts across the week, with 10-hour shifts available after training!
• Daylight and evening shifts, Monday through Friday.
• Weekend shifts every other weekend, with a variety of daylight, evening, and night shifts in the weekend rotation.
• Holiday rotation, as needed.
• No on-call or travel required!

Applicants will be placed in the appropriate job title and salary based on individual experience and education, at manager discretion.

Applicants with at least 6 months of experience are eligible for our Night Program ($4.00 shift differential) and our Weekend Program (additional 15% incentive to salary)! Details can be provided during the interview process!

Responsibilities

• Performs diagnostic radiography procedures and utilizes complex imaging equipment for the acquisition, analysis, and documentation of image data according to protocol.
• Identifies all patients properly by using two patient identifiers.
• Demonstrates the ability to communicate instructions to patients in a clear and concise manner, and explains procedures to help allay the patient’s fears and solicit their cooperation.
• Reviews patient history, assesses physician orders, and documents patient history in electronic record, as required.
• Administers PO and rectal contrast per physician orders/department policy.
• Ensures all exams within area of responsibility are properly coded and tracked through RIS system, all exams are properly networked to ISITE for archiving and interpretation, and all charges are adequately entered for the exams performed.
• Demonstrates the ability to interact with both patients and co-workers, while displaying a high level of caring, listening, dignity, and respect.
• Able to work as team member within the department and all other departments to expedite patient care efficiently.
