Qualifications

Job Summary

The Staff Radiologic Technologist performs radiographs according to ARRT standards, demonstrating knowledge of human anatomy, patient care, positioning, radiographic sciences, radiation safety, and specialized techniques. Maintains professional conduct aligned with ARRT Code of Ethics and St. David's Healthcare Values.

Responsibilities

  • Perform diagnostic radiographic procedures including ER, surgical, fluoroscopic, and portable radiographs.
  • Operate radiography equipment and accessories successfully.
  • Interpret and follow referring physicians' orders.
  • Practice safe radiation protection per hospital guidelines.
  • Assist physicians and radiologists in sterile procedures.
  • Prepare and administer contrast media for radiologic exams.
  • Assess patient condition before and during procedures.
  • Provide optimal patient care during exams.
  • Document clinical history and procedures accurately.
  • Perform minor equipment repairs and report issues.

Qualifications

  • Graduate from an AMA-approved Radiologic Technology program or meet Texas certification requirements.
  • Entry-level candidates accepted depending on shift responsibilities.
  • Certified or eligible for Texas Department of State Health Services certification as a Medical Radiologic Technologist.
  • ARRT (R) certification or eligibility, with ARRT (R) within 12 months of hire.
  • CPR/BLS certification within 30 days of employment.
