Job Summary
Performs imaging / therapeutic services and patient care in support of the Radiology Department's mission to provide diagnostic information for patient treatment at WVU Medicine.
Minimum Qualifications
Education, Certification, and Licensure
West Virginia, Ohio, and Maryland:
- Completion of an Accredited Radiography School
- Registered (or registry eligible) by the ARRT in Radiography; if eligible, must pass boards within 6 months of hire
- Radiologic Technologist certification through the West Virginia Medical Imaging and Radiation Therapy Technology Board of Examiners, or applicable state
- Basic Life Support certification within 30 days of hire
- West Virginia state criminal background check, and Federal check if applicable
Pennsylvania:
- Same as above, with the registry eligibility period of one year
Core Duties and Responsibilities
The following are general responsibilities:
- Rotate through all diagnostic areas to develop skills (Fluoro, Mobiles, Routine, OR, Endoscopy, Orthopedics)
- Perform imaging procedures based on patient assessment and protocols, with supervision
- Produce high-quality images, optimize exposure factors, and minimize radiation exposure
- Maintain knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and pathology relevant to imaging
- Assess patient needs and provide support for comfort and hygiene
- Prepare contrast agents and sterile trays per protocols
- Educate patients about procedures
- Collaborate effectively with the healthcare team
- Engage in problem solving and performance improvement activities
- Follow ethical and departmental policies
- Report equipment failures immediately
- Complete required in-services and competencies
- Position patients accurately
- Coordinate daily workflow
- Supervise and instruct radiology students as appropriate
- Ensure all components of the imaging process are completed
Specialty Accreditation
Complete annual education related to specialty standards as required.
Physical Requirements
- Differentiate shades of gray on imaging
- Stand and walk for extended periods
- Wear lead aprons weighing 8-15 pounds
- Lift, push, pull up to 50 pounds
- Carry items up to 20 pounds
Work Environment
- Minimal radiation exposure, monitored by dosimeter
- Exposure to airborne particles and fluids
- Operate imaging equipment with moving parts

- Prioritization and multitasking skills
- Ability to adapt positioning techniques as needed
