Job summary

Northwell Health is seeking a Radiology Technologist to operate X-ray equipment, perform radiographic exams, and ensure proper labeling and documentation. You will translate technical procedures into lay terms to help patients feel at ease and maintain stringent quality controls.

The role requires NY state licensure, ARRT registration, a vocational or technical diploma, and 1–3 years of clinical experience. Follow division standards and participate in image transfer and archiving tasks.

Qualifications

  • Vocational or Technical school Diploma is required.
  • Current license to practice as a Radiology Technologist in New York State is required.
  • Current ARRT Radiology registration is required.
  • 1-3 years of technical experience is required.

Responsibilities

  • Translates examination into layman terms based on professional knowledge to relieve patient of pre-testing anxiety.
  • Performs various x-ray exams according to established standards and division procedures.
  • Positions patient for taking radiographs according to departmental SOPs.
  • Recognizes and promptly reports patient motor abnormalities (e.g., fainting, discoloration, contrast reactions) to the Radiologist.
  • Operates equipment for transferring images to film and archiving memory to tape.
  • Uses film markers and ensures images are properly labeled as right/left.
  • Ensures images are legibly labeled with date and patient ID.
  • Enters patient history and requisition data into the system.
  • Arranges immobilization and supportive devices for patients.
  • Performs related duties as required; all duties are essential functions under ADA.

Education

Vocational or Technical school Diploma
Current NYS Radiology license
ARRT Radiology registration
1-3 years of technical experience

Job description

Operates X-ray equipment to make radiographs of designated portions of the body. Performs quality control checks. Maintains required documentation.

Job Responsibility
  • Translates examination into layman terms based on professional knowledge to relieve patient of pre-testing anxiety.
  • Performs various x-ray exams according to established standards, procedures and procedures of the division.
  • Positions patient for taking of radiographs according to the departmental standard operating procedures.
  • Recognizes and promptly reports patient's motor abnormalities; including, fainting, discoloration, contrast reactions etc., to the Radiologist.
  • Operates equipment for transferring computed images to film and archival of disc memory to tape.
  • Utilizes film markers and ensures images are properly marked as the "right" or "left" side.
  • Ensures images are legibly labeled with correct date and patient identification.
  • Keys in Patient history data and other pertinent information obtained from requisition.
  • Arranges, attaches, or adjusts immobilization and supportive devices for patients.

Job Qualification
  • Vocational or Technical school Diploma required.
