Job summary

Avera Gettysburg Hospital is seeking a Radiologic Technologist to operate radiographic and CT equipment, delivering diagnostic images as directed by physicians. You will perform procedures accurately, participate in image archiving and ensure patient safety and compliance with regulatory standards.

The role emphasizes on-site day shift work with opportunities for ongoing training, mentorship, and involvement in quality improvement within a compassionate multi-disciplinary team.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree or Radiologic Technology certificate from an accredited school.
• ARRT certification within 60 days of hire.
• Ability to communicate effectively and maintain confidentiality.

Responsibilities

• Performs radiology procedures accurately and per established standards and protocols.
• Initiates appropriate intervention when exam requires immediate attention.
• Reviews indications for exams and reports inappropriate indications to supervisor.
• Provides complete exam data for radiologist interpretation.
• Utilizes PACS, RIS, HIS EMR systems and performs clerical duties.
• Archives image data and transmits to radiologist group; retrieves stored images as needed.
• Maintains confidentiality and safety standards.
• Mentors staff and students during training and orientation.
• Maintains records per department and regulatory standards.

The pay range for this position is listed below. Actual pay rate dependent upon experience.

$26.75 - $40.00

A Brief Overview

Accountable for the proficient operations of the radiographic and CT equipment to provide clinically diagnostic images as directed by physicians.

What you will do

• Performs various radiology procedures accurately, efficiently and according to established standards and protocols.
• Initiates proper intervention to radiologist or referring practitioner when an exam indicates immediate attention.
• Reviews appropriate indications for exams ordered and reports inappropriate indications to supervisor.
• Provides exam data in a complete and accurate format for presentation to reading radiologist for interpretation.
• Utilizes computer systems such as PACS, RIS, HIS EMR systems and performs general clerical duties.
• Archives image data for permanent storage and appropriately sends images to radiologist group. Retrieves stored images form PACS or disc back-up and make CDs successfully.
• Demonstrates an understanding of medical and legal implications and responsibilities related to the imagine reports and images to protect the patient and the organization.
• Maintains established department policies, procedures, objectives, quality assessment, safety, and environment and infection control.
• Assists/mentors staff/student with on the job training, clinical rotations and orientation.
• Assists with analysis, collection and maintenance of records as required by department manager, Quality Improvement, Joint Commission, MDH, ACR standards, OSHA guidelines or as may be required by the facility or law.

Required Education, License/Certification, or Work Experience:

• Associate’s or a certificate of completion from an accredited school of Radiologic Technology
• ARRT Certification - American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) within 60 Days
