Job summary

Advocate Health’s Radiology Department is seeking a radiologic technologist to operate fluoroscopy, portable, surgical and general radiography units. You will ensure high-quality radiographs, maintain safety, and complete HIS data entries while contributing to department CQI goals.

The role requires ARRT registry eligibility with an active I.D.N.S. license and graduation from an approved Radiologic Technology School.

Qualifications

  • ARRT Registry eligible I.D.N.S. License (current).
  • Graduate of an approved Radiologic Technology School.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrates the appropriate operation of all radiographic equipment including fluoroscopy units, portable units, surgical units as well as general radiography units.
  • Accountable for the production of quality radiographs.
  • Demonstrates safety in all areas, electrical, environmental, radiation etc.
  • Ensures all appropriate information is present before radiographs are performed.
  • Completes all data entries in the radiology and hospital information system.
  • Participates in efforts to monitor and improve departmental CQI indicators.
  • Submits ideas for improving quality in your department.
  • Serves as a patient advocate to ensure that patients and customers needs are met in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Provides education to all patients before, during and after exams.
  • Maintains a positive relationship with all customers (patients, other departments, physicians and fellow associates).
  • Reviews patient satisfaction data and participates in improving areas of concern.
  • Utilizes appropriate resources to resolve patient issues.
  • Address and resolve customer complaints.
  • Ensure on-time completion of your performance pathway.
  • Send out co-worker feedback forms 6 months before review to associates you and your leader have identified as able to provide valuable feedback.
  • Submit self-evaluation to leader two weeks before review.
  • Participates quarterly in the TNT associate satisfaction survey.
  • Submit ideas each year for improving customer satisfaction.
  • Assess own learning needs, seeks appropriate training and development.
  • Sets own learning goals.
  • Development of a learning plan and documenting your progress on a learning log.
  • Maintains a program to complete required training hours per quarter.
  • Submits Dynamite ideas to your leader.
  • Participates in hospitalwide or departmental DIG each year.
  • Implement Just-Do-It initiatives in your department during the year.
  • Participates in hospitalwide TNT-related activities.
  • Participates in departmental recognition and socialization activities.
  • Attends all departmental staff meetings.
  • Participates in efforts to improve productivity in your department.
  • Submits ideas for improving productivity in your department.
  • Submit ideas for reducing expenses or adding revenue.
  • Participates in efforts to contain costs or generate revenue in your department.

Education

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:

May be exposed to radiation ; hazardous materials & life threatening diseases. Ability to lift and/or move patients . Ability to work under stressful conditions & in difficult situations. Ability to work rotating shifts any day of the week. Ability to stand , bend and /or stoop for extended periods of time .

If position has direct patient care or direct patient contact the following lifting requirement supersedes any previous lifting requirement effective 06/01/2015. Ability to lift up to 35 pounds without assistance. For patient lifts of over 35 pounds, or when patient is unable to assist with the lift, patient handling equipment is expected to be used, with at least one other associate, when available. Unique patient lifting/movement situations will be assessed on a case-by-case basis.
