Job summary

Trinity Health Michigan seeks a Radiology Technologist to join the X-Ray team at Trinity Health Ann Arbor Hospital and Canton Medical Center, with a rotating full-time schedule. You will operate imaging equipment to obtain diagnostic films and assist radiologists with contrast procedures.

Required ARRT registration, BLS certification, and an accredited radiography program. The role emphasizes patient care, radiation safety (ALARA), and collaboration with Radiology leadership.

Qualifications

  • Completion of an accredited Radiologic Technologist / Radiography program.
  • ARRT-registered Radiographer.
  • Current BLS certification from the American Heart Association.
  • One year of Radiologic Technologist experience preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of anatomy and physics and positioning (supine, prone).
  • Knowledge of exposure techniques to minimize patient radiation dose (ALARA).

Responsibilities

  • Review requests and determine region to be examined per protocols.
  • Prepare patients and position them, explain procedures, ensure comfort.
  • Assist Radiologist with routine radiographs and operate imaging equipment.
  • Monitor patient condition and respond to changes during procedures.
  • Document verification and re-imaging needs using computerized systems.
  • Collect and forward completed PACS images for interpretation.
  • Maintain sterile techniques and infection control.
  • Monitor daily quality control and report equipment problems.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Position Purpose:

The Radiology Technologist works closely with the Radiology leadership and the Radiologist to produce the highest quality diagnostic images possible in accordance with the department protocols. Operates diagnostic imaging equipment to obtain routine radiographs of designated body portions for interpretation by physicians. Assists radiologist in the administration of contrast media required in specific diagnostic procedures.

Required Qualifications:
  • Completion of an accredited Radiologic Technologist / Radiography program
  • Registered as a Radiographer by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT)
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association
  • One year of experience as a Radiologic Technologist preferred
  • Must have good working knowledge of anatomy and understanding of the principles of physics, electricity, variations of anatomical positions – supine, prone, etc.
  • Must know methods of exposure to obtain clearly defined films and to set up and operate equipment, with an emphasis on reduction in patient radiation dose (ALARA – As Low As Reasonably Achievable).
What the Radiology Technologist will do:
  • Review requests for procedures, using reason(s) for the procedures, department protocols, physician recommendations and personal judgment to determine region(s) to be examined and diagnostic images to be obtained.
  • Prepare patients for diagnostic procedures by explaining the procedure, transferring and positioning patients, attaching or arranging immobilization and support devices, instructing and reassuring patients, using care, courtesy and tact.
  • Assist the Radiologist in performance of routine radiographs, adjusts, manipulates and controls a variety of imaging equipment, and accessories used in performing diagnostic procedures.
  • Monitor patient's condition before and during performance of diagnostic procedures, recognizing changes that may require emergency actions and initiating appropriate responses.
  • Document procedure verification and procedural, using a computerized system, and determines need for and performs necessary re-imaging.
  • Collect all completed diagnostic PACS images and forwards to appropriate location(s) for interpretation and results reporting.
  • Practice sterile, isolation and aseptic techniques to prevent contamination, and maintains documentation of infection control procedures and activities.
  • Monitor quality control on a daily basis; reports operational and functional equipment problems to appropriate personnel. .
  • Other duties as assigned.
