Job summary

Trinity Health Ann Arbor Hospital is seeking a Radiology Technologist to work nights in the Radiology Admin/X-Ray department. The role involves producing high-quality diagnostic images and assisting radiologists with contrast administration as needed.

The successful candidate will have ARRT registration, an accredited radiologic technologist program, BLS certification, and preferably one year of experience. This on-site position supports weekend night shifts and a full-time schedule.

Qualifications

• Completion of an accredited Radiologic Technologist program.
• ARRT registration required or preferred.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• One year of radiology experience preferred.
• Solid knowledge of anatomy and physics principles.

Responsibilities

• Review procedure requests and determine regions to image per protocols.
• Prepare and position patients, explain procedures and ensure comfort.
• Assist Radiologist in performing routine radiographs and operate imaging equipment.
• Monitor patient condition and respond to changes during procedures.
• Document procedure verification and re-imaging needs as required.
• Manage completed PACS images and forward for interpretation.

Position Purpose

The Radiology Technologist works closely with the Radiology leadership and the Radiologist to produce the highest quality diagnostic images possible in accordance with the department protocols. Operates diagnostic imaging equipment to obtain routine radiographs of designated body portions for interpretation by physicians. Assists radiologist in the administration of contrast media required in specific diagnostic procedures.

Weekends - Friday/Saturday/Sun; Night Shift

Status available

Full Time, 36 hours per week

Weekend alternative schedule

work 72 hours in a pay period, get paid for 80 hours***

Required Qualifications

• Completion of an accredited Radiologic Technologist / Radiography program
• Registered as a Radiographer by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT)
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association
• One year of experience as a Radiologic Technologist preferred
• Must have good working knowledge of anatomy and understanding of the principles of physics, electricity, variations of anatomical positions – supine, prone, etc.
• Must know methods of exposure to obtain clearly defined films and to set up and operate equipment, with an emphasis on reduction in patient radiation dose (ALARA – As Low As Reasonably Achievable).

What The Radiology Technologist Will Do

• Review requests for procedures, using reason(s) for the procedures, department protocols, physician recommendations and personal judgment to determine region(s) to be examined and diagnostic images to be obtained.
• Prepare patients for diagnostic procedures by explaining the procedure, transferring and positioning patients, attaching or arranging immobilization and support devices, instructing and reassuring patients, using care, courtesy and tact.
• Assist the Radiologist in performance of routine radiographs, adjusts, manipulates and controls a variety of imaging equipment, and accessories used in performing diagnostic procedures.
• Monitor patient's condition before and during performance of diagnostic procedures, recognizing changes that may require emergency actions and initiating appropriate responses.
• Document procedure verification and procedural, using a computerized system, and determines need for and performs necessary re-imaging.
• Collect all completed diagnostic PACS images and forwards to appropriate location(s) for interpretation and results reporting.
• Practice sterile, isolation and aseptic techniques to prevent contamination, and maintains documentation of infection control procedures and activities.
• Monitor quality control on a daily basis; reports operational and functional equipment problems to appropriate personnel.
• Other duties as assigned.
