Job Summary and Qualifications

Position Summary: Under the radiologist's direction, performs radiology services at a technical level requiring no constant supervision, using independent judgment and ingenuity. Responsible for designated procedures, prioritizing patient care, and performing examinations on patients of all ages.

Population Served: Radiologic exams across various systems including skeletal, pulmonary, cardiac, GI, GU, GYN, and oncology.

Essential Functions:

• Establishes rapport with patients to understand service requirements.
• Ensures equipment operation through preventive maintenance and troubleshooting.
• Manages supplies inventory and maintains compliance with legal and professional standards.
• Maintains professional knowledge through education and networking.
• Ensures a safe, clean environment, and gains patient cooperation through explanations.
• Prepares patients and equipment for radiological procedures, practicing radiation safety.
• Protects patients and staff through infection control and emergency protocols.
• Documents services and contributes to team efforts.
• Assists physicians during examinations, including contrast media administration and sterile procedures.
• Receives and follows verbal orders in accordance with licensing requirements.

Required Licensure/Certifications:

• Certified Medical Radiologic Technologist licensed by Texas Medical Board
• ARRT Registry (R) certification
• BCLS Certification

Required Education/Experience:

• High school diploma, graduate of an accredited Radiologic Technology program.
• Knowledge of anatomy, positioning, radiographic techniques, radiation protection, physics, and medical terminology.
• Ability to lift over 100 pounds with assistance.
• Effective communication skills and compliance with infection control policies.
• Mandatory attendance at department/hospital classes annually.
