Job summary

Jackson Purchase Medical Center in Mayfield, Kentucky is hiring a Full Time Radiology Technician to perform various imaging procedures in accordance with practice standards. The role requires reviewing orders, educating patients, preparing contrast if needed, and maintaining imaging safety and quality.

You will work with a team in a busy clinical setting. Requirements include graduation from an accredited radiology program or equivalent, KY state license or temporary license, ARRT certification

Qualifications

• Requires ARRT certification within 6 months of hire.
• Licensed or temporary KY State Radiation Operators license required.
• BCLS certification within 90 days of hire.
• Graduate of accredited radiology program or equivalent; state licensure validated.

Responsibilities

• Reviews patient history and physician's orders.
• Educates patient about procedures and equipment for cooperation.
• Prepares and administers contrast media and medications when ordered.
• Monitors patient condition and responds to changes.
• Prepares equipment and supplies for imaging procedures.
• Selects exposure factors and imaging parameters.
• Implements safety standards and performs QC on equipment.
• Troubleshoots equipment malfunctions and reports issues.
• Positions patient and performs imaging procedures.
• Analyses imaging results and addresses quality issues.
• Enters and transmits scan results.

Position Summary:

The Radiology Technician performs various imaging procedures in accordance with applicable scope and standards of practice.

• Reviews patient history and physician's orders.
• Educates patient regarding procedures, equipment and exam to ensure patient's understanding and cooperation.
• When ordered, prepares and administers contrast media and/or medications within scope of practice.
• Monitors patient condition continually and reports/responds to changes in status as appropriate.
• Prepares equipment and supplies.
• Selects appropriate exposure factors and imaging parameters.
• Implements safety standards and performs appropriate quality control procedures on equipment.
• Troubleshoots, resolves, and/or reports equipment malfunctions as necessary.
• Positions patient and performs imaging procedure(s).
• Analyzes results and identifies issues with the quality of imaging results.
• Takes appropriate action to resolve image quality issues, including repositioning patient and repeating procedure.
• Enters, transmits and reports scan results.

What We Are Looking For:

• Graduate of Program in Discipline - required or validated by current licensure; Bachelor's Degree Preferred.
• (KY) State Radiation Operators License or Temporary (KY) State Radiation Operators license.
• ARRT within 6 months of hire.
• BCLS within 90 days of hire.
• Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
• Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
