Job Summary
The Radiology Technician will perform multiple procedures under the direction of specialized physicians, including operation of special imaging and radiology equipment. Skilled at sterile field assistance during operating room and pain management procedures.
Responsibilities
- Perform duties in the primary work area and demonstrate competency in outpatient diagnostic radiology and fluoroscopy.
- Operate x‑ray equipment to acquire radiographs of specified body portions, adjusting equipment for proper exposure, voltage, and current in accordance with prescribed radiation safety procedures.
- Determine, prepare, and set up medical supplies, instruments, and equipment; explain x‑ray procedures to patients; position patients for each anatomical view using immobilization and protective devices as required; report any changes in patient condition to attending medical staff.
- Monitor accessory equipment and assist attending physician with fluoroscopic examinations and special radiographic studies.
- Record amount and type of film exposed; label film with identifying information; sort as required.
- Consult with lead x‑ray technician and radiologist to ensure compliance with established standards of quality.
- Process film in accordance with standardized procedures and maintain assigned work area in a clean and orderly condition.
- Demonstrate strong teamwork skills, utilizing downtime to perform other assigned tasks, including room turnovers, restocking warmer, and specialty carts.
Education, Training and Experience
- Graduate of an accredited program in Radiological Technology.
- 1‑2 years of experience in C‑Arm and portable x‑rays in an operating room setting.
- ARRT Registered, State MRT and CPR Current.
- Knowledgeable of local, state, federal, and Joint Commission regulations.
- Possess independent decision‑making skills.
- Ability to prioritize and handle multiple projects.
- Excellent communication skills with staff, physicians, patients, and families.
- Familiarity with medical terminology and departmental supply items is required.
Pay Range
$35.00 - $45.00 per hour.
Individual wages are determined based upon a number of factors including, but not limited to, an employee’s qualifications and experience.
