Job summary

St. Tammany Health System in Covington is seeking a dedicated transport technician to support diagnostic imaging services across CT, Ultrasound, MRI and X-ray. You will help ensure smooth patient flow, assist with exam preparation, and manage patient check-ins when needed.

The role requires lifting up to 50 pounds, standing and walking for extended periods, and delivering compassionate care in a fast-paced hospital environment, aligned with safety and teamwork principles.

Qualifications

• Must be proficient in filing, telephone etiquette, guest relations and proper body mechanics for patient transport.
• Current BLS certification through ILCOR or approved courses with manikin check-off.
• Able to work in a fast-paced environment.

Summary of the Job

• This worker is responsible for assisting with the smooth flow of diagnostic studies in all modalities as needed.
• Responsible for the safe transport of patients from the units to CT , Ultrasound, MRI and Xray.
• Assists with the preparation of patients for exams.
• Checking patients into Epic when they present for their studies when a patient representative is unavailable.

Minimum Qualifications

• Must be proficient in filing, telephone etiquette, guest relations and proper body mechanics for patient transport.
• Current BLS certification through any International Liaison Committee on Resuscitation (ILCOR) provided courses such as but not limited to: Ochsner Health System, American Heart Association, and American Red Cross.
• The ILCOR course must include a manikin check off.
• Must be able to work in a fast paced environment.

Physical Demands:

• Must possess good physical health.
• Some requirements include but are not limited to standing, sitting or walking for long periods of time.
• Lifting at least 50 pounds is required.
• Must be able to work with a moderate level of noise.
