Job summary

Carolina Pines Regional Medical Center in Hartsville, SC seeks a Radiologic Technologist – Pain Management to perform diagnostic and fluoroscopic imaging to aid interventional pain procedures. The technologist works with physicians, nurses, and staff to ensure image quality and patient safety in clinical or outpatient settings.

This role requires ARRT, state license, BLS within 90 days, and at least 1 year of radiography experience, with preference for interventional or pain management

Qualifications

• Associate degree in Radiologic Technology required.
• Bachelor’s degree in Radiologic Technology or related field preferred.
• Current ARRT registration required; state Radiologic Technologist license where applicable.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 90 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and position patients for imaging procedures, ensuring safety, comfort, and accurate technique.
• Perform radiographic and fluoroscopic imaging during pain management procedures (e.g., epidural steroid injections, nerve blocks).
• Operate C-arm fluoroscopy equipment per physician direction and radiation safety guidelines.
• Verify patient identity and orders; review history prior to imaging.
• Maintain accurate patient records and radiation exposure logs.
• Adhere to infection control standards and sterile technique during interventional procedures.
• Ensure equipment functionality and report malfunctions.
• Maintain imaging supplies inventory and assist with ordering.
• Communicate with patients and care team to address questions and concerns.
• Participate in continuing education to maintain licensure and certification.

Job Summary

The Radiologic Technologist – Pain Management performs diagnostic and fluoroscopic imaging procedures to assist physicians in the diagnosis and treatment of patients undergoing interventional pain management procedures. The technologist ensures accurate imaging, radiation safety, and patient comfort in a clinical or outpatient setting. This role collaborates closely with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to provide high-quality care in accordance with established safety, compliance, and clinical protocols.

Essential Functions

• Prepare and position patients for imaging procedures, ensuring safety, comfort, and accurate technique.
• Perform radiographic and fluoroscopic imaging during pain management procedures such as epidural steroid injections, nerve blocks, and joint injections.
• Operate C-arm fluoroscopy equipment in accordance with physician direction and radiation safety guidelines.
• Verify patient identity, confirm procedure orders, and review clinical history prior to imaging.
• Maintain accurate and complete patient records, including imaging documentation and radiation exposure logs.
• Adhere to infection control standards and sterile technique during interventional procedures.
• Ensure proper functioning and calibration of imaging equipment; promptly report malfunctions or safety issues.
• Maintain required inventory of imaging supplies and assist with ordering as needed.
• Support a patient-centered care environment by communicating effectively and addressing patient questions and concerns.
• Participate in continuing education to maintain required licensure and certification.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities/Expectations

• Proficiency in general radiographic and fluoroscopic techniques, anatomy, and radiation safety principles.
• Strong understanding of interventional imaging procedures and sterile technique.
• Ability to effectively operate imaging and electronic medical record (EMR) systems.

Education

• Associate degree in Radiologic Technology required.
• Bachelor’s degree in Radiologic Technology or related field preferred.

Licenses/Certifications

• Current registration as a Radiologic Technologist (ARRT) required.
• State Radiologic Technologist license required in states where applicable.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required within 90 days of hire.

Experience

• Minimum of one (1) year of experience as a Radiologic Technologist required.
• Experience in interventional or pain management settings preferred.
