Job summary

The Senior Radiology Tech at Tenet Healthcare provides high-level supervision and direction for technologists across imaging modalities, coordinating workflow to ensure patient safety and timely examinations.

Responsibilities include maintaining equipment readiness, enforcing radiation safety, mentoring imaging students, and stepping in as department Director/Coordinator when needed, while upholding hospital policies and quality standards.

Qualifications

• Must have active Healthcare Provider BLS (ARC or AHA); BLS within 60 days of hire.
• ARRT registration or equivalent depending on specialty; Texas license if ARRT Registered in ionizing radiation.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and direct technologists working and rotating through the department.
• Coordinate workflow within the department and hospital to ensure efficient service.
• Ensure protection to patients and staff per radiation safety guidelines.
• Provide professional and technical guidance to medical staff.
• Oversee imaging students during clinical rotations; evaluate performance.
• Assume Director/Coordinator responsibilities in their absence.
• Maintain safe environment and ensure availability of supplies and equipment.

The Senior Radiology Tech is under minimum supervision supervises and directs the activities of technologist working and/or rotating through the department including their discipline and performance while in that area. Completes established competencies for the position within designated introductory period. Other related duties as assigned

Coordinates work flow within the department and other areas of the hospital to assure efficient service. Provides protection to patient and self in accordance with prescribed radiation safety guidelines. Implements protective measures to prevent patient injury due to thermal, electrical, mechanical, laser, chemicals and radiation sources. Provides professional and technical guidance and confers with medical staff as appropriate. Assures availability and functioning of supplies and equipment. Enforces and adheres to personnel policies. Makes recommendations for hiring, firing and promoting staff. Oversees and directs the Imaging students actions during clinical rotations; evaluates assigned students. Assumes the responsibilities of the department Director/Coordinator in their absence. Utilizes resources efficiently and effectively. Maintains safe environment.

Minimum Education

• Graduate of accredited school of Imaging, Nuclear Medicine, Ultrasound or MRI

Preferred Education

• Associate's Degree

Minimum Experience

• 3-5 years technical experience. 2 years experience at supervisory level.

Preferred Experience

• 2 years of experience at supervisory level

Required Certifications / Licensure

• Registered by the American Registry of Radiological Technologist (ARRT) or equivalent depending on specialty.
• Possession of current Texas Medical Board (TMB) license (if ARRT Registered in ionizing radiation)

Required Courses / Completions (e.g., CPR)

• Must have active healthcare provider Basic Life Support on hire (ARC or AHA); however, must have AHA Healthcare Provider BLS within 60 days of hire
